The Ubuntu One music store is bundled with Rhythmbox. But before you can use it, you’ll need to install the necessary MP3 plugins. Not to worry, just pull up Rhythmbox by clicking on the Sound applications menu. Once the application loads you’ll see the “Install MP3 Plugins” button. Click that and you’ll soon be ready to buy music from the Ubuntu One Music Store.

Prices in the store run about $.99 to $1.29 for individual songs. Albums seem to cost about $9.99 to $16.99. For the most part, the pricing seemed about the same as in Apple’s iTunes store. The Ubuntu One Music Store does not let users rate and review music though. Hopefully they’ll add that in a future version of the store since it adds a lot of value for customers.

True Crypt – Free open-source disk encryption software for Windows Vista/XP, Mac OS X, and LinuxTrueCrypt is a software system for establishing and maintaining an on-the-fly-encrypted volume (data storage device). On-the-fly encryption means that data are automatically encrypted or decrypted right before they are loaded or saved, without any user intervention.

No data stored on an encrypted volume can be read (decrypted) without using the correct password/keyfile(s) or correct encryption keys. Entire file system is encrypted (e.g., file names, folder names, contents of every file, free space, meta data, etc). Files can be copied to and from a mounted TrueCrypt volume just like they are copied to/from any normal disk (for example, by simple drag-and-drop operations). Files are automatically being decrypted on-the-fly (in memory/RAM) while they are being read or copied from an encrypted TrueCrypt volume. Similarly, files that are being written or copied to the TrueCrypt volume are automatically being encrypted on-the-fly (right before they are written to the disk) in RAM. Note that this does not mean that the whole file that is to be encrypted/decrypted must be stored in RAM before it can be encrypted/decrypted.

Based on the information brad. he’s still not sure to use meego version 1.0, He states MeeGo That feels much snappier and more polished than the last version of Moblin he tested. but meego may be an option for your netbook.
